The aim of the course is to provide a <strong>effective methodology<\/strong> \nand to show the most suitable tools for carrying out Capacity Planning periodically.<br>\nThe CP process begins with a systematic measurement of performance and load volumes, moves through the parameterisation of an easily \u201cintuitable\u201d mathematical model, and concludes with an equally systematic activity of <strong>What-if analysis<\/strong>, which mainly allows you to:\n<\/p><ul>\n<li><strong>assess the maximum system capacity<\/strong>; For example, to estimate the maximum number of users the system can handle<\/li>\n<li><strong>compare the system's maximum capacity with the trend curves<\/strong> of the load to predict if and until when the system will be able to operate within the set operating limits, evaluate the impact on performance following fail-over<\/li>\n<li><strong>identify the resources and systems<\/strong> which constitute a bottleneck for performance so as to plan any upgrades<\/li>\n<li><strong>assess the performance impacts<\/strong> in buffer\napplications, such as, for example, the size of the\nconnection pool to a database server.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr \/>\r\n<h2>Contents<\/h2>\r\n\n<p>Performance of \nan IT system, response time and \napplication throughput; what is capacity \nplanning: system model and \nworkload model.<\/p>\n<p>Resources and requests,\nresource classification (queued, delayed,\nmultiservice, passive), load model and\nvisits, parameter calculation.<\/p>\n<p>Open and closed systems,\napproximate techniques and exact techniques,\nbottleneck identification.<\/p>\n<p>Definition of objectives, analysis of the architecture and application, construction of the system model and load model, activation of collection agents, calculation of model parameters, resolution of the model.<\/p>\n<p>Maximum and residual capacity\nof a system, bottleneck removal, analysis of a system in case of failure or upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<hr \/>\r\n<h2>Prerequisites<\/h2>\r\n\n<p>Participation in the course \u201cMeasuring and maintaining Web application performance\u201d.
